What is ATP?
Adenosine-5’-triphosphate (ATP) is the universal energy currency of all living organisms. In humans, ATP is made by several mechanisms: Glycolysis, Oxidative Phosphorylation, and by Salvage Pathways.
What does that mean?
Think of ATP for humans as gasoline for a car engine. It is the energy source that is needed for cells in our body to function properly.
